Process

Fill out the form on the Get Started page, including the first few pages of your manuscript. 

We will consult by phone or Zoom to get a better sense of how I can help. 

When we decide to proceed, I will begin a comprehensive editorial review of your manuscript. Comprehensive editing includes development editing, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading. It usually requires four to five reads on my part, though I will probably only send the manuscript back to you twice.

Changes and comments will be made in Word using Tracking, so that you can show or hide the markup and accept or reject the changes. If you are unfamiliar with Tracking, I can send you a short tutorial. At your option, I can make the necessary changes directly to the electronic manuscript without Tracking, adding comments and suggestions in the body of the text in ALL CAPS. I will not work from a hard copy as this gets too complicated.

The development and line edits will include changes to improve structure, style, and sense along with suggestions for additions and modifications for you to consider. 

You will review the marked-up manuscript, revising and adjusting as desired. 

Once you are happy with the result, my final edits will focus on copyediting, proofreading, and continuity to create a finished, professional manuscript, ready for publication.
